Bringing equity to the tribal heartland of South Gujarat.

MECT runs residential schools, village learning centres and scholarship programs for 3,300+ tribal children in South Gujarat, turning talent that poverty would have buried into doctors, engineers and changemakers.

Who we are

A resource-rich ecosystem built around one belief: talent is everywhere, opportunity is not.

Founded in 2003 by Shri Parimal Parmar, Malvi Educational & Charitable Trust serves children from the six predominantly tribal districts of South Gujarat, a region where over 80% of rural families are small farmers or landless labourers, and early dropout is the norm, especially for girls.

98% of our students are tribal, 40% are orphans or from single-parent homes, and 60% are girls.

  • From preschool to STD 12, and onward through college as alumni.
  • Holistic growth: academics, sports, arts, values & vocational skills.
  • Fully registered: 80G, 12A, FCRA, CSR-1 & NGO Darpan.

* The Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in Higher Secondary of Gujarat at 47% is one of the lowest amongst developed states.

The challenge

Prosperous Gujarat has one of the highest secondary-school dropout rates amongst the developed states, and economically poor tribal children are the worst affected. Poor quality of education and limited access to affordable residential schooling in higher grades keep children locked out of life-changing careers. MECT is attempting to break that cycle, systematically.
